NOCC, Lake Orion High School host film screening of “Suicide: The Ripple Effect” | Local News

North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) is set to host a film screening of “Suicide: The Ripple Effect” at Lake Orion High School Performing Arts Center from 6 to 8 pm on Jan. 14.

Released in February, the film chronicles the story of Kevin Hines, who at age 19 attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge and has since been on a mission to use his story to help others stay alive and find recovery.

The NOCC hopes to address the topics of suicide and depression within the local community by showing the film. It also hopes to encourage a cultural shift to shatter the stigma around brain disease and suicide and encourage those affected.

The screening is free and open to the public, but those interested do need to register at the NOCC website.
